The key art for Dispatch.

During Xbox’s 2026 Partner Preview, AdHoc Studios announced that it would be bringing superhero workplace comedy adventure game Dispatch to Xbox this year. Today, the developer announced a late July launch date for the title. The game is by the writers and directors of games like The Wolf Among Us and is set in modern-day Los Angeles.

Play as Robert Robertson, AKA Mecha Man. His mech-suit was destroyed in battle, and he has had to take a job at a superhero dispatch centre. He’s no hero here, just a measly dispatcher. He’s put in charge of a group of rehabilitating ex-supervillains, and you must manage the roster while navigating office relationships and rebuilding Mecha Man’s mech-suit. Dispatch blends narrative, strategy, and humour, while also exploring what it means to be a hero.

Here are Dispatch’s key features, via AdHoc Studio:

  • Shape Your Story – In Dispatch, every decision you make influences the unfolding narrative. From banter in the breakroom to life-or-death situations in the field, your choices affect your relationships with the heroes, their allegiances, and the path your own story takes.
  • Deploy Your Heroes – Use the strategy map to review ongoing emergencies and deploy the right (or wrong) heroes to deal with them. Balance the risks and rewards as you make tactical decisions, knowing that each choice can have lasting consequences for your team and the city.
  • Manage Your Roster – Managing heroes sometimes goes beyond their powers. Each hero comes with quirks, flaws, and baggage you’ll need to navigate to keep the team together. Upgrade their skills and unlock abilities to boost their effectiveness in the field.

Dispatch has one heck of a voice cast. I’m talking about Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad), Laura Bailey (The Last of Us II), Alanah Pearce (Cyberpunk 2077), Jeffrey Wright (American Fiction), and more.

Developed and published by AdHoc Studio, Dispatch will be released for Xbox Series (and PC via Microsoft) on July 29. It is currently available for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Switch 2, and Switch.

Lindsay picked up an NES controller for the first time at the age of 6 and instantly fell in love. She began reviewing GBA games 20 years ago and quickly branched out from her Nintendo comfort zone. She has has developed a great love of life sims and FMV titles. For her, accessibility is one of the most important parts of any game (but she also really appreciates good UI).
