A staggering number of indie games are being delayed due to Hollow Knight: Silksong’s launch on September 4, and unfortunately, school-life tactics RPG Demonschool is one of them. Originally set to launch on September 3, it has been delayed until mid-November.
Demonschool follows college Freshman Faye, who is descended from a demon-hunting family. Here, she discovers creatures she’s only seen in ancient tombs haunting her island university. Make friends, forge relationships, and battle gruesome monsters. The monsters, inspired by ‘60s through ‘70s Italian horror cinema and Japanese horror manga, battle on a chess-like board where movement equals action.
“Demonschool was set to launch on Sept. 3, but after much anguished consideration on our part, we’ve made the decision to move the game’s release to Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2025,” states Brian Kwek of Ysbryd Games in a press release. “With 11 years under our belt as an indie publisher, we at Ysbryd Games are reasonably qualified to say that any point of 2025, on balance, has been or will be as brutal as market conditions can get when it comes to releasing a game. Crueler still, that we should find out with such short notice that Hollow Knight: Silksong will launch just one day after our planned release for Demonschool.”
He later continues: “We don’t take this decision lightly. Demonschool’s release has been delayed before, and we want to be clear: there are no more delays after this point. We’ve already distributed Steam keys to press as part of a healthy review program, and had every intention to proudly release on Sept 3. We hope fans who anticipated the game will forgive us for one final delay. … Thank you for your patience and enthusiasm for Demonschool. We truly hope you continue to support Necrosoft Games’ labour of love by showing up for Faye and her madcap band of collegiate demon hunters.”
Developed by Necrosoft Games and published by Ysbryd Games, Demonschool will be released for PC via Steam/Epic (it is also Steam Deck compatible), PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series on November 19.
