The title of the innovative puzzle game Tournamentris describes it well: it is a falling-block game where you build a tournament bracket and compete for the high score. Players must combine numbered panels to build their bracket; when its champion is crowned, the panels merge and vanish. The flow of the game and your score changes based on the number of panels cleared and the aesthetic structure of your bracket; the gameplay is described as “deeply strategic.” Tournamentris is already available via two platforms, and it will be launching for Steam in 2026.
Describing the game’s system and features is way over my head, so I’ll share from a press release:
- The Thrill of Building Your Tournament: Link panels with the same number using bridges, then drop a crown to complete the “tournament.” The panels merge and vanish, and your score is awarded.
- Types of Number Panels: Panels cycle through combinations in a loop—1 + 1 → 2, 2 + 2 → 3, 3 + 3 → 1. Planning for higher-order merges is the key to mastering the game.
- Special Patterned Tournaments: By arranging your bridges into specific formations—Orthodox, DanDan, Max, Full, and more—you can complete special “hands” and earn bonus points.
- Create a big tournament to earn bonus time: Tournamentris is an innovative puzzle game that blends tournament brackets with falling-block mechanics. Combine numbered panels to build your bracket, then place a crown to merge and clear the panels. The number you clear and the elegance of your bracket shape affect your score and game flow, creating a simple yet deeply strategic experience. The playfield continuously rises over time, shrinking your available space—and if blocks reach the ceiling, it’s game over.
Developed by Studio ZeF and published by WorldMap, Tournamentris is currently available via itch.io and UnityRoom. This version will be updated to be the same as the Steam version, adding local and online versus modes, a new puzzle mode, and revamped graphics and sound. Tournamentris’ Steam page is now open; it will be released for the platform in early 2026.
