Xbox announces Backwards Compatibility for PC
Last week, Xbox announced Backwards Compatibility for PC, which makes specific Xbox games from the past playable on PC and PC-based handhelds. Four titles launched, including BLiNX: The Time Sweeper, Conker: Live and Reloaded, Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge, and Fuzion Frenzy. They are available for purchase or with all Game Pass plans. If you own a digital license for the games on console, the license will carry over to PC/handhelds.
This is an early release, meaning more titles will be added over time. The games also include new features to make the experience “better.” Players can customize graphic settings (up to 4x resolution upscaling), VSync support, full-screen and windowed display modes, anisotropic filtering, enhanced anti-aliasing, audio settings, language settings, and more. More features are expected to be added as Backwards Compatibility continues, including Achievements.

Hatsune Miku Graphy Collection Mystery Music Planet Re:Merge announced for smartphones
Crypton has announced iOS/Android game Hatsune Miku Graphy Collection Mystery Music Planet Re:Merge, which will launch this fall in Japan; it will be free-to-play with in-app purchases. There is no confirmation whether it will be coming to the West.
Hatsune Miku Graphy Collection Mystery Music Planet is a card-based music RPG that first launched for Japanese smartphones in October 2014. It was in service for six years. A Western version was planned but never launched.
Hatsune Miku Graphy Collection Mystery Music Planet Re:Merge features Piapro characters, including Hatsune Miku, Kagamine Rin, Kagamine Len, Megurine Luka, MEIKO, and KAITO.
Alien Archeologist launches later this year
Dig your way to Mars’ depths in Alien Archeologist, announced for a PC launch in October. Set in the distant future, you’re alone at a dig site on the surface of Mars. All you have with you is a rusty shovel and some TNT. Dig deep (literally), restore alien artifacts, and search for whatever it is your employer is desperate to find. Clean away every speck of dust and follow the mysteries further down. Grind down found ore to sell and purchase new tools. For artifacts, take them to the cleaning station to use multiple tools to wash dust, pick out rocks, and polish the object.
Here are the game’s key features, via Black Lantern Collective:
- Dig – There’s a soft patch of soil behind the shack the company put you in. Grab a shovel, start scooping, and pick out anything that glimmers. There are valuable artifacts down there, and who knows what else?
- Restore – Find an artifact? Bring it topside and clean it up. Spray off the dust, pick off the rocks, and spit-shine it so it doesn’t look a thousand years old.
- Upgrade – Fill your bag full of ore, shake it into the grinder, and use the earnings to get better gear. Improve your shovel, your lamps, the blast radius of your TNT, and all of the tools you use to clean up the artifacts after you find them.
- Goober – What kind of company would leave you alone on a desert planet? For all your social needs, we’ve provided GOOBER, a spiffy little vacuum bot who can assist you with all sorts of chores like finding spare materials, building extra TNT, and… murder? Never mind that. GOOBER can be augmented with a number of customizable features, including bow-ties, mustaches, and top hats. Nothing to fear.
Developed by TheClassifiedX and published by Black Lantern Collective, Alien Archeologist will be released for PC on October 12.
Dystopian noir adventure game The Money Man announced for PC
Fenyx Digital has announced its latest pixel art narrative game, The Money Man. The decision-driven dystopian sim is set in a decaying, sealed-off future New York. You must survive in a high-stakes criminal underworld, where spotting counterfeit bills becomes a matter of life or death. One hundred years ago, the wealthiest on Earth fled to Mars, leaving behind a rotting New York City. It’s so bad that it’s cordoned off, with nobody able to get in or out. Crime families have claimed the boroughs. Tragedy strikes someone you love, and they become strapped for cash, forcing you to bargain with one of these families for help. And that’s how you become a bill scanner, looking for counterfeits until you can pay back your debt.
Your job is to inspect cash using a variety of tools. Get a closer look at serial numbers and portraits with the scanner, or set the bill on a UV plate to see if it reacts. Between shifts, you can socialize. Explore the speakeasy, gather rumours, and chat up patrons for intel. This will make it easier to spot the liars when they pass you bills.
Developed and published by Fenyx Digital, The Money Man is in development for PC via Steam. A demo will be available in early August.
