DANGEN Entertainment has announced that BONEREADER, a dark card adventure game with narrative elements, will launch for PC during the first week of August. In the game, you roll the dice for a chance at rebirth. Build your deck, harness the mystical powers of the dice, and battle spirits in a game of chance. In the end, you’ll no longer be in psychedelic purgatory: you will either escape or be damned for eternity.
In Bonereader, survive deadly games of chance versus otherworldly spirits. It is set in a dreamlike afterlife where justice is uncertain, fate is measured in numbers, and redemption must be won. Every soul plays by different rules, and each has something to wager. Your fate could be decided during any roll of the dice. Build up supernatural synergy between the cards, dice, and powerful items. You’ll need to overcome each opponent’s “house rule.”
You didn’t end up in purgatory in a very pleasant way: you were killed by an electric chair. In purgatory, the dead gamble for another shot at life. You’ve died without peace, believing you’ve been wronged. To be reborn, defeat the spirits who stand before you, uncover the truth behind your death, and reclaim what is yours. The afterlife doesn’t care if you deserve redemption; you’ll have to win it.
Play the game by building up a collection of mystical cards and dice, then rolling the “bones” to play cards. Powerful synergies can be created between the cards, dice, and items and can push your score even higher. No two opponents are alike, and each brings with it a house rule that forces you to adapt your strategy, rethink your deck, and gamble against the odds.
Developed by Bonereaders and published by DANGEN Entertainment, BONEREADER will be released for PC via Steam/GOG/itch.io on August 6. A digital artbook will also be available upon launch.
