The key art for The Big Hollow: 1982.

Modernized 2D point-and-click adventure game The Big Hollow: 1982 follows a single, tightly focused FBI case over three hours. Developed by Krams Design and published by DANGEN Entertainment, the game focuses on psychological profiling, grounded crime scene analysis, and cinematic storytelling. The distraction-free experience emphasizes deduction and behavioural interpretation over elements like filler dialogue or sprawling exploration. The Big Hollow: 1982 will launch for PC later this year.

The game is set in 1982, in a small truck-stop community where everyone knows everyone. When Ida and Bonnie disappeared, no one dared ask questions aloud. At the FBI, the Behavioural Science Unit is still new, as is the idea of serial killers. As the methodical and intuitive Desmond (shoutout for such a cool name, it’s my nephew’s too!), learning criminal profiling under Lenore Davidson, a cold representative of the BSU. Your work could prove the unit’s worth — or expose its limitations.

(I would like to take a moment to point out that only two people are missing, while a serial killer must have three or more victims spread across time.)

Decipher the ‘why’ behind Ida and Bonnie’s disappearances in this case full of fragments, contradictions, and unfolding secrets. Shape Lenore’s impression of Desmond as a profiler, interpret what he sees, uncover the motives, and find the killer.

Here are the game’s key features, via DANGEN Entertainment:

  • A tightly focused 2.5 to 3-hour case that tells a deep, atmospheric story in the 1980s American South.
  • Investigate a gritty setting beautifully illustrated with a unique 2D art style.
  • Examine evidence using techniques inspired by FBI thought processes and procedures.
  • Interpret evidence as you see fit, and influence the outcome of the investigation.
  • Experience a gradual and natural expansion of evidence and complexity.

Developed by Krams Design and published by DANGEN Entertainment, The Big Hollow: 1982 will be released for PC this year. A demo is now available through Steam and GOG.

She has has developed a great love of life sims and FMV titles. For her, accessibility is one of the most important parts of any game (but she also really appreciates good UI).
