The key art for Chuck Another Game On The Barbie: The 2025 Pixel Expo Showcase. It runs from September 13 to 15, 2025.

Pixel Expo, Western Australia’s largest (and non-profit) entertainment event, is collaborating with Steam for its first showcase that puts Aussie games front and centre. The showcase spotlights Australian indie titles, giving fans worldwide a chance to discover and support Aussie talent. This gives developers a much farther reach than they would have by simply being showcased as a (large) local expo. The Steam event runs concurrently with Pixel Expo, from September 13 to 15.

Speaking of Aussie talent, check out DDNet’s Editor-in-Chief’s first game, The Last Waltz. It launches very soon!

Here is a brief description of the Steam showcase, from a press release:

Serving up the smoke and sizzle of Pixel Expo to players worldwide, Chuck Another Game On The Barbie celebrates the creativity and diversity of the Australian games scene. From wholesome indies to chaotic couch co-ops, the showcase serves up a feast of 32 Australian titles from WA creators and interstate studios alike. With something on the menu for every taste, players can wishlist games directly on Steam before sampling them in person at Pixel Expo.

“I’m thrilled to launch this digital showcase alongside Pixel Expo,” said Rin McBeath, organizer of the Steam event, in the same press release. “It’s an exciting chance to put local talent on the global stage and show the world just how much creativity is bubbling up in Australia’s games industry.”

Games featured in the showcase include but are not limited to:

  • Courier Tale
  • Lunars: Ultimate Zodiac Party
  • Sea Blindness
  • Microidvania
  • Dungeons and Dining Tables
  • Don’t Stop, Girlypop!
  • Ghost Cam
  • Monster Swap

Lindsay picked up an NES controller for the first time at the age of 6 and instantly fell in love. She began reviewing GBA games 20 years ago and quickly branched out from her Nintendo comfort zone. She has has developed a great love of life sims and FMV titles. For her, accessibility is one of the most important parts of any game (but she also really appreciates good UI).
