After Akupara Games acquired bankrupt indie developer Triple Topping, the future of punk rock feminist adventure Dead Pets Unleashed was uncertain. Today, the publisher announced that it has been working behind the scenes to complete what Triple Topping started, with the help of former Triple Topping teammates to maintain their original vision. The game follows Gordy and her struggling punk rock band, Dead Pets, as they search for their big break and try to navigate their situationships.
Gordy is a 30-something demon. Her punk band, Dead Pets, haven’t hit it big — but they swear they will any day now! Gordy needs to navigate life by balancing the new underground punk band with the fear of barely making ends meet, despite a shitty shared apartment. At its core, Dead Pets Unleashed is a feminist, slice-of-life, management-lite, minigame-heavy narrative rhythm game.
The game’s key features, from Akupara Games, include:

- Cartoonish Inspirations – For fans of Bojack Horseman and Tuca and Bertie. Inspired by their colourful, surreal worlds, complicated, dynamic friendships, and zany, offbeat humour.
“The industry is in a place where everyone is looking for a reason to say ‘no,’ to pull funding, to cancel projects, and we wanted to be the team who does the opposite of that,” said Buddy Sola, Head of Marketing at Akupara Games, in a press release. “[A team] who can take an interesting, unique project like Dead Pets, made by a clever team of talented artists, and bring that to fans.”
