The key art for King Arthur: Knight's Tale.

Immerse yourself in the mythical realm of Avalon in King Arthur: Knight’s Tale, a hybrid between turn-based tactical games and traditional character-centric RPGs. The game first launched for PC following a successful Kickstart campaign, and nearly two years after its full launch a console launch date has been set.

Take on the role of Sir Mordred, King Arthur’s nemesis and the former black knight of the grim tales. You killed King Arthur, but he also struck you dead with his dying breath. You both died, yet you both live as the Lady of the Lake brought you back to go on a knightly quest. Finish what you started. Kill King Arthur… or whatever he has become after the Lady of the Lake took his dying body back to Avalon.

Venture out on knightly quests and make moral choices during encounters that will have an impact on the story and your Mortality. After the campaign ends new endgame content opens up, including tough new challenges with mythic boss fights, random quests, loot, and character progression that leads to the banishing of Balor himself.

Players control a small team of heroes and fight grueling battles with a tactical turn-based combat system. Choose from over 30 heroes across six classes, and combine hundreds of skills and artifacts to assemble your best team. After gathering your knights, send them on quests. These heroes are your most important resource but beware: death is always final. Plan ahead before battle. Each hero levels up on a unique skill tree, and their loyalty will change based on the decisions you make. Sometimes they’ll even turn against you.

The consoles editions of King Arthur: A Knight’s Tale will be slightly different from the PC version. There are now graphical options that lets players choose between a 4K Quality Mode or a Performance Mode that prioritises framerates. Local multiplayer has been added. PlayStation 5 users can get haptic feedback through the DualSense controller. Finally, there is achievement/trophy tracking. Console edition support will continue after launch with seasonal content, optional skirmishes, and new features.

Developed and published by NeoCore Games, King Arthur: Knight’s Tale will be released for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series on February 22, 2024. It first launched in Early Access for PC in January 2021, with a full release happening in April 2022.

Lindsay picked up an NES controller for the first time at the age of 6 and instantly fell in love. She began reviewing GBA games 20 years ago and quickly branched out from her Nintendo comfort zone. She has has developed a great love of life sims and FMV titles. For her, accessibility is one of the most important parts of any game (but she also really appreciates good UI).
