2K Games is the publisher that gets premium mobile. It simply understands that there are people that want to play serious, deep, rich games on mobile without being overloaded by microtransactions and the like.

Not long ago it released XCOM: Enemy Unknown on to iPad. A near perfect port of the console game it was microtransaction-free and cost $20 or thereabouts, and against the wisdom that iOS games can only be successful if they’re free, XCOM was very successful indeed.

And now 2K Games is back and doing the same thing with the original Bioshock. That’s right, arguably the best game in that particular franchise is coming iOS way for a premium price, complete with either optimised controls or, if you’ve got something like the Steelseries Stratus, Bluetooth controller support.
