Well, this is a rather spectacular-looking indie RPG

Over at Pocket Tactics is a story about an upcoming iOS and Android game that looks absolutely spellbinding. Paper Sorcerer is as its name suggests; it’s a game that looks like it’s drawn on paper. It looks like that because it actually is – every part of this game has been, literally, hand-crafted.

The result is a visual design that is equal parts strikingly modern and tantalisingly retro. If that isn’t enough to get you excited by the game, then consider this – this is a mobile RPG exclusive that aims to emulate the likes of Wizardry, Legend of Grimrock and Etrian Odyssey, but with some important tweaks in the name of progress. In this game random encounters are not everywhere. Some areas will use the mechanic for impact, but for the most part every scene will be carefully crafted to balance challenge and drama.

In other words, this is a game about quality, not quantity. Have a look at the trailer and tell me that this doesn’t look like quality to you.

No wonder this succeeded on Kickstarter; it’s rare to find a game that is this unique and distinctive.
