Sega is bringing a refreshed version of it’s 2008 hack’n’slash Viking: Battle for Asgard to the PC.

Not exactly a huge hit when it originally debuted on the Xbox 360 and PS3 four years ago, Viking nonetheless was a pretty fun time. The game is a straightforward affair and features brawling with demons across a free-roaming landscape that’s awash in Viking and norse imagery. Honestly it’s also a pretty fun time (though the later levels are BRUTAL) and is kind of unique in a way.

I don’t think there are any other games on the market that actually feature norsemen. At least, I can’t think of any off the top of my head.

Still, why Sega would seemingly pick Viking out of thin air and relaunch it (to whatever degree) is a little bit of a mystery. In any event, the game’s here (again) and here’s what you can expect to see should you grab it for your very own:

Viking: Battle for Asgard is known for its enormous, free-roaming environments and apocalyptic battles between thousands of stalwart Viking troops and murderous demons. The PC version will re-invigorate the game for 2012 with outstanding visuals that take full advantage of modern gaming hardware. Players can scale the resolution, anti-aliasing and other graphical effects according to the power of their PCs for a truly stunning graphical experience. Viking: Battle For Asgard™ also supports gamepad play, and includes fully-remapped keyboard-and-mouse controls for PC gamers.

The PC version also brings all-new graphical features such as screen space ambient occlusion. With improved lighting and shadowing, Ragnarok has never looked so good!

Sharpen your swords, rally the lads, and click here to pick up Viking: Battle for Asgard on Steam.

  • It's not a bad game really, decent amount of strategy and pretty lengthy single player campaign as I recall too.
