Yep, the 3DS had record sales in Australia, too

 We already knew that Nintendo’s newest gadget sold through the roof in Japan, the US and in Europe, and Australia didn’t ruin the party.

The first four days of sales saw 31,000 units ship, which sounds relatively low, but considering Australia’s population, that’s actually a record here. By comparison, the Nintendo DS sold 32,000 units in the first week, so the 3DS more or less hit that number in half the time.

It sold so well that there are shortages now, and retailers are suggesting consumers put down orders for the next shipment.

31,000 units certainly explains why I’ve actually had some StreetPass hits, that’s for sure.
