3DS strategy RPG Fire Emblem Fates has sold an impressive 300,000 copies in its North American opening weekend. These strong sales figures earn a place in the record books as the fastest-selling game in the history of the long-running, critically-acclaimed franchise.

That number was undoubtedly boosted by the fact that the sales figures include all versions of the game: Birthright, Conquest and the Collector’s Edition. This means Fire Emblem Fates has sold more than five times as many as its 3DS predecessor, Fire Emblem Awakening, within the same timeframe.

The third chapter, Fire Emblem Revelation, will launch on March 10 in North America. A free DLC map has been made available and paid maps are on their way. Nintendo is yet to announce a specific European release date, but have reassured fans that it will be released sometime in 2016. Hopefully it arrives sooner rather than later.
