Publisher NIS America has announced that it is bringing Japanese spooky farming sim Honogurashi no Niwa to Western territories this (Northern) fall as Village in the Shade. Developed by Nippon Ichi Software, best known for Disgaea and Phantom Brave, Village in the Shade will be released for PC, PlayStation, and Switch. The game will launch on these same platforms in Japan on July 30.
Village in the Shade is set in a Japanese mountain village full of secrets, Kagatsu. In this hand-painted farming sim, you plant crops, customize your homestead, and befriend a cast of intriguing characters. You can chill by the brook, watch the cherry blossoms with neighbours, or stroll through town. Of course, there are a few simple rules to follow: don’t talk to strangers, don’t leave the village, and, whatever you do, don’t go out at night.
Here are the game’s key features, via NIS America:
- Unsettle Down: Make your new home feel like home! Buy furniture in town to decorate your house, then craft fences and other items with the resources you’ve gathered around your farm.
- Festivals and Fun: Experience traditional Japanese festivals and activities, like the summer festival and cherry-blossom viewing. Get closer to your neighbours as you enjoy laid-back living.
- Secrets Aren’t Meant to be Shared: Discover the truth about Kagatsu at your own risk, or follow the rules and keep from seeing a part of the village you don’t want to.
A physical Limited Edition of Village in the Shade is now available for pre-order through the NIS America Online Store. It includes a copy of the game, a collector’s box, an art book, the original soundtrack, an acrylic block, and a set of metal pins.
Developed by Nippon Ichi Software and published in the West by NIS America, Village in the Shade will be released for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Switch 2, and Switch this fall.
