Kyoto Xanadu announced for PC, PlayStation, Switch

During last week’s Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase, Falcom announced dual dimensional action RPG Kyoto Xanadu.

Here is a brief description of the game, from Falcom:

Set in an alternate reality where Kyoto is the capital of Japan, Kyoto Xanadu players take on monsters and mysteries coming from the great labyrinth known as Xanadu. As a student, players will challenge the labyrinth and grow through their battles within Xanadu while also deepening bonds with various people during your daily life. Uncover the truth hidden both in the labyrinth and Kyoto itself.

Kyoto Xanadu features both 2D and 3D battles. In 2D gameplay, explore a labyrinth with multiple layers. Solve and activate various mechanics based on your equipped Guardian’s element. Use the Soul Device to perform actions and ranged attacks, and use skills like Soul Accel to enhance your power. When you’re up against certain foes or passing through the Gates, the screen shifts to 3D battles where you cooperate with companions while unleashing flashy attacks and special moves.

Developed by Falcom, Kyoto Xanadu will be released worldwide for PC, PlayStation 5, Switch 2, and Switch this (Northern) summer.

The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales launches this June

The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is a brand-new game from the creators of Octopath Traveler and Bravely Default. The action RPG combines HD-2D visuals with action-adventure gameplay, a first for the creators. (These games tend to be turn-based.) During last week’s Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase, Square Enix revealed a mid-June release date for the game, which will launch for PC and consoles.

In a continent overrun by beast tribes, the Kingdom of Hunther is humanity’s last hope, held safe by a magic barrier. After discovering some ruins, adventurer Elliot and his sidekick Faie travel beyond the barrier for a journey spanning the entire continent and a thousand years of history. Battles are intuitive and rewarding, and a fairy provides strategic support.

Developed by Claytechworks and Square Enix (who also publishes the game), The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales will be released for PC via Steam/Microsoft, PlayStation 5, Switch 2, and Xbox Series on June 18.

Lindsay picked up an NES controller for the first time at the age of 6 and instantly fell in love. She began reviewing GBA games 20 years ago and quickly branched out from her Nintendo comfort zone. She has has developed a great love of life sims and FMV titles. For her, accessibility is one of the most important parts of any game (but she also really appreciates good UI).
