Paradox Interactive is at it again. The publisher has teamed up with Triumph Studios to announce a game that we’re over-the-moon excited for from the mere announcement alone. Age of Wonders has a big reputation for a good reason, and now there’s a new one on the way.

Age of Wonders 4 will launch on Sony PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC (via both Steam and Epic Games Store) on May 2. Like its predecessors it will be a 4X strategy game with a strong fantasy skew, thrusting you in the role of a Wizard King, and promises some deep customisation over just who it is that you’re leading into battle and conquest (the press release mentions “cannibal halflings” and that certainly puts a new spin on Frodo and Sam’s relationship).

The announcement trailer is great – watch the second half for a look at just how gorgeous this game will be. Best of all is we’re not going to have to wait long for it. It’s landing on May 2.
