Yaza Games and Mythwright have announced that the unique (and often bizarre!) manuscript workshop sim Scriptorium: Master of Manuscripts will be released later this month for PC. In the game, you manage a workshop, create weird and wonderful designs, and meme your way through the Middle Ages. The Scriptorium is a cozy and relaxing creative space; there are no timers or pressure.
In Story Mode, you create medieval illustrations for clients. Spread your art across the kingdom and become celebrated by all. Illustrate all sorts of things: battles, romances, masquerade balls, love letters, maps, and more. The colourful cast of characters will have bizarre requests for you, and each one shapes a royal drama. Spend your earnings to decorate your workshop and choose a perfect pet companion.
In Sandbox Mode, you start with blank parchment, the entire library of assets, and no clients or commissions. When your masterpiece is complete, share it by exporting a PNG optimized for printing and social sharing.
Here are the game’s key features, via its publisher and developer:
- Create medieval illustrations for a colourful cast of clients across the kingdom. Take on tasks to meet each patron’s individual request across a quirky campaign while adding your own creative flair to each handcrafted masterpiece.
- Personalize your workshop and use hard-earned coins to splash out on furniture, lighting, tapestries, flowers, windows, and carpets, turning your Scriptorium into the coziest workshop in the land.
- Discover a vast range of drag-and-drop assets inspired by the deepest reaches of history, and save your masterpieces to an in-game gallery, or export your works of art as PNG files for printing and social sharing.
- Embrace your Scriptorium’s full potential by creating letters, invitations, cards, stickers, wallpapers, fantasy maps, medieval recreations of movies, games and pop culture, and — of course — memes.
Developed by Yaza Games and published by Mythwright, Scriptorium: Master of Manuscripts will be released on April 16 for PC via Steam.
