Nintendo has released a Welcome Version of the life sim Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, which is a demo for the upcoming title. It is available now for Nintendo Switch. Save data will transfer from the demo to the full version of the game upon release. The Welcome Version allows players to create up to three Miis and includes about half an hour of gameplay.

In addition to the demo launch, Nintendo has also revealed a new Overview trailer for Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream.

In the game, you become a caretaker of an island inhabited by Miis. Create Miis of anyone you want: yourself, your family, your friends, your favourite musical artist, or someone completely made up. You can choose the way they look, their personality traits, and their little quirks. Some Mii facial features are unique to the game. You can adjust each visual detail or create a Mii by answering a series of questions.

The Miis then live freely, with you as a guiding hand: explore their likes, form relationships, and have fun! The characters will take on a life of their own. By moving Miis next to each other, they’ll start spending time together. They might forge unlikely friendships, get into fights, fall in love unexpectedly, etc. Give them food, outfits, gifts, and advice as they deal with daily life.

You also have creative control over the landscape. Expand and design your island as you’d like. Add homes, shops, and restaurants for residents to visit. Decorate a Mii’s room with different interior sets, including wallpaper, floors, and furniture. In the Studio Workshop, create unique exteriors, ground tiles, floors, pets, food, clothing, and more.

Developed and published by Nintendo, Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream will be released for Nintendo Switch on April 16. (A great day for cozy gamers — new DLC for Hello Kitty Island Adventure also launches that day!)

Lindsay picked up an NES controller for the first time at the age of 6 and instantly fell in love. She began reviewing GBA games 20 years ago and quickly branched out from her Nintendo comfort zone. She has has developed a great love of life sims and FMV titles. For her, accessibility is one of the most important parts of any game (but she also really appreciates good UI).
