Redlock Studio has announced the second game in its Maze Chronicles universe, following Blackshard. Hypnos is a first-person adventure and exploration game set in a Lovecraftian megastructure fever dream. In the atmospheric and unsettling semi-open world, players meet the world’s monarchs and strange inhabitants while searching for the boy haunting their dreams.

Hypnos weaves branching narratives into the exploration game, while keeping the same atmospheric focus. The soundtrack is by ALT236, a French multimedia artist and composer, blending ambient, retro and dreamlike electronic music.

Here are the game’s key features, via Redlock Studio:

  • Exploration: wander a unique semi-open world. Find your own way through the Nameless City.
  • Branched dialogues, choices & alternative endings: Meet the strange inhabitants of the Far Reaches. Your actions influence their destinies.
  • A layered world: Interact with your environment. Transform the materia of dreams and the City with it. Lift the veils that conceal reality.

Developed by Redlock Studio and Enclave, and published by Redlock Studio, Hypnos will be released for PC via Steam and unspecified consoles later this year.

Lindsay picked up an NES controller for the first time at the age of 6 and instantly fell in love. She began reviewing GBA games 20 years ago and quickly branched out from her Nintendo comfort zone. She has has developed a great love of life sims and FMV titles. For her, accessibility is one of the most important parts of any game (but she also really appreciates good UI).
