Will it ever launch?

The key art for Witchbrook.

Fans of Stardew Valley love Chucklefish, but, like me, some are becoming mildly annoyed with Witchbrook‘s many delays. And today, it happened again: the title will not be released during its previously scheduled winter 2025 window, and that date has been pushed back to sometime in 2026. In the same development updates, the company also revealed a world map and thanked prospective players for their patience.

“We have an important update to share about Witchbrook,” said Chucklefish in today’s development update. “Originally we had planned to launch Winter 2025, but despite great development progress this year, we’ve made the difficult decision to shift the release into next year. Witchbrook is a big project – and it’s taking shape exactly as we hoped; full of charm, depth and detail! In our first blog, we shared our goal to create a living, breathing world for you to explore, and as we bring all those elements together, we’re taking the time needed to ensure the world feels rich, immersive, and alive.”

The development update page features the first look at the Mossport map. This is the first time Chucklefish has revealed the size of Witchbrook’s world. It is a large-scale physical world that the team is filling with spellbinding stories, captivating quests, and enchanting systems to enrich your time at Witchbrook College. Any coloured areas are playable areas.

Hike through the concealed paths of Shadhollow Forest, or take in the salty sea air on the beaches of Parasol Sands. Mossport’s high street is a lively city centre with shops, delicacies, and friendly faces. The Student Village, beneath the façade of Witchbrook College, buzzes with energy thanks to a community of lively young witches. If you need to relax, head to Shadbrooke Cottage and its verdant garden. Down the lane are peaceful farmlands and a secluded fishing spot. Each area connects naturally to the next.

Developed by Robotality/Chucklefish and published by Chucklefish, Witchbrook will be released for PC via Steam, Switch 2, Switch, Xbox Series, and Xbox One in 2026.

Lindsay picked up an NES controller for the first time at the age of 6 and instantly fell in love. She began reviewing GBA games 20 years ago and quickly branched out from her Nintendo comfort zone. She has has developed a great love of life sims and FMV titles. For her, accessibility is one of the most important parts of any game (but she also really appreciates good UI).
