I come bearing good news and bad news. The good? RPG The Legend of Heroes: Trails beyond the Horizon will be launching for Switch 2 alongside its previously announced PC and console versions. The bad? The game’s release window was originally set for this (Northern) fall, but that has now been pushed back a little to January 2026.
“With the power of the Nintendo Switch 2, we expect players to have an even more enjoyable experience,” says Nihon Falcom President Toshihiro Kondo in a press release. “In fact, this will mark the debut of the Trails series on the Nintendo Switch 2, and I personally have high expectations for it. Please continue to look forward to the release!”
Here is a description of the game from NIS America:
Van Arkride and the members of Arkride Solutions are back, and this time the future of the entire Zemurian continent is at stake! The people of Zemuria await the launch of humanity’s first foray into space with bated breath. A sudden invitation from Marduk to cooperate in a high-tech training exercise sets Van, Ashen Chevalier Rean Schwarzer, and Father Kevin Graham on a collision course with the secrets at the very core of Zemuria.
Their paths may diverge, but the ultimate question remains the same: Just what lies beyond the edge of the horizon?
And here is the game’s previously-released announcement trailer:
Developed by Nihon Falcom and published in the West by NIS America (in Asia, it is published by Clouded Leopard Entertainment), The Legend of Heroes: Trails beyond the Horizon will be released for PC via Steam/Epic/GOG, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Switch 2, and Switch in January 2026.
