The Infinity Series are well-known visual novels by Kotaro Uchikoshi that sit firmly in the science fiction, suspense, and adventure game genres. It began in the early 2000s, branching out to three mainline games, one spin-off, and one reboot. Today, Spike Chunsoft announced that remastered versions of the series’ first two games, Ever 17: The Out of Infinity and Never 7: The End of Infinity, will be launched in the West early next year. And on the same day as the releases in Japan and Asia, to boot!

The games in the Infinity Series are all set in a world where time loops exist. (What it is with loops today? There was also news about Driveloop.) Each title has an independent story; however, since Ever 17: The Out of Infinity and Never 7: The End of Infinity are the first two games, that doesn’t matter much in this context. The series contains elements of science fiction, suspense, and mystery.

Ever 17: Out of Infinity follows ordinary college student Takeshi Kuranari on a visit to an underwater theme park. When an accident traps Takeshi and six others 51 metres below the ocean’s surface, there is no hope of rescue. Takeshi begins exploring the park with two people, a part-time employee named You and a mysterious girl named Tsugumi, trying to change their fate and find an escape. One crisis after another, the search continues. The theme park of dreams has become a nightmare, but is there a chance hope can still exist? Or is another mystery around the corner?

The protagonist in Never 7: The End of Infinity is Makoto Ishihara, who has had the worst awakening imaginable. He dreamt of a girl who died tragically before his very eyes. He is at a summer training camp (well-planned to run smoothly), but on April 6, everything changes when a calamity occurs and uneasiness quickly turns into despair. The dream was a premonition. Makoto has a chance to stop the tragedy and see the beginning of Day 7, but will he succeed?

Developed by Mages. and published by Spike Chunsoft, the Infinity Series Remastered Editions of Ever 17: The Out of Infinity and Never 7: The End of Infinity will be released digitally in North America and Europe for PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch on March 6, 2025. A double-pack will also be available.

Lindsay picked up an NES controller for the first time at the age of 6 and instantly fell in love. She began reviewing GBA games 20 years ago and quickly branched out from her Nintendo comfort zone. She has has developed a great love of life sims and FMV titles. For her, accessibility is one of the most important parts of any game (but she also really appreciates good UI).
