The 24 Games of Christmas! Day #13: Skyrim

Seeing green and red? It must be Christmas!

Every year the world patiently (or not-so-patiently) counts down those 24 days to Christmas; there’s even calendars filled with little treats to help keep the young ones patient.

Then the big day rolls around and it’s filled with great food, great company and, of course, presents.

Christmas is the best time of year, and so to do our bit in celebrating we’re doing our own advent calendar. Each day we’ll unveil another game that has touched us in some way over the year – whether because it’s a work of interactive art, laugh-out-loud funny or just so weird it blew our mind.

So be sure to check back each day for a new game suggestion to fill your Christmas break!

12 Days to Go! Skyrim

We very nearly chose not to include this game on the list – not because we thought it was a bad game, but because we figured that anyone who starts to play this game and get absorbed into the world of Skyrim might just lose track of time and miss Christmas entirely.

This is a game where, 100 hours in, you’re still doing side quests rather than following the storyline along. This is a game where you’ll have three different characters going at once; one because you want to play as the heroic knight, one because you want to play the evildoer and slaughter entire cities, and one where you just wander wherever you can.

There’s no real right or wrong way to play Skyrim, and its ability to provide a customised experience depending on your play tastes is precisely why it is a game we wholeheartedly recommend you pick up.

Plus, there’s snow in Skyrim, which is Christmas enough.
