Sega Game Gear comes to 3DS download

And you thought the 3DS’ virtual console would be restricted to Game Boy and Game Boy Color games.

This, in 3D. Mind blown.

At GDC, Nintendo and Sega announced a partnership that would see five classic Game Gear games made available for download on the 3DS eShop… and more to come.

There’s also going to be some TurboGrafx-16 games released.

Not much is known about which games will be made available, but Sonic seems likely to be an early candidate. Coupled with the 3D Classics feature, where retro games will get a 3D coat of paint to go with the classic gameplay, and Sega fans should be over the moon with the potential for a 3D Sonic.
