Heidi’s Legacy: Mountains Calling launches this December
From Kamaeru developer Humble Reeds, Heidi’s Legacy: Mountains Calling is a cozy, story-rich adventure that celebrates nature and self-discovery, inspired by the Heidi I.P. Heidi is from the children’s novel about a five-year-old and her grandfather living in the Swiss Alps. It has been adapted dozens of times for film and television.
Play as Heidi, no longer a five-year-old but a young woman wanting to retreat from city life. Form bonds with her grandfather, her childhood friend, and others. Explore forests, valleys, and lakes while rebuilding a community on top of the alpine mountains. There is a farming sim element, as Heidi will shepherd and care for goats, then collect their milk and wool for resources. Complete quests, explore branching dialogue options, and help Heidi navigate mountain living.
Developed and published by Humble Reeds, Heidi’s Legacy: Mountains Calling will release for PC via Steam this December. PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch versions launch in January 2027.
Tom the Postgirl launches in time for Halloween
Tom the Postgirl is a cute, disturbing game from ARTE France and Oopsie Daisies. The absurd adventure follows Tom on her delivery rounds, which always go wrong. It doesn’t help that Tom peeks into houses to spy whenever she can. Each resident of the village has something to hide, whether it be the narcissistic mayor or some chainsaw-wielding hippies. The game will be released for PC/Mac and Nintendo Switch late this month.
Here are the game’s key features, via ARTE France:
- Walk and stalk! Frame-by-frame animation gives a retro feel to this universe and immerses the player in a strange village where the slightest detail can turn into a suspicious event. With unique hand-drawn backgrounds and numerous hiding places from which to spy on residents, players take their time, observe carefully, and witness a series of fascinating, unsettling scenes.
- A guilty pleasure: From drug-dealing pigeons in the cemetery to wandering cowboy earthworms and grumpy squirrels: humans aren’t the only ones worth watching. Whether you focus on the job or disturb the peace is your choice. Will you resist the urge to trample on perfectly trimmed hedges, crush flowerbeds, or steal garden gnomes? All gameplay is as transgressive as it is unapologetic: spy, sabotage and cause chaos, all without losing your innocent smile as a model postgirl.
- Between Adult Swim and a children’s book: Tom the Postgirl blends the naive aesthetic of illustrated books with the raw, nonsensical strangeness of an Adult Swim cartoon. Somewhere between the destructive absurdity of Thank Goodness You’re Here! and the dark humour of Dumb Ways to Die, delivering mail has never been so irresponsible.
- The joy of rediscovery: With each new playthrough, players discover new details they might have missed and opt for a playstyle that’s more or less mischievous to uncover every last one of the villagers’ secrets. Multiple available endings encourage replayability, while achievements and unlockable profiles reward the most curious players.
Developed by Oopsie Daises and published by ARTE France, Tom the Postgirl will release for PC/Mac via Steam and Nintendo Switch on October 29.
