During today’s State of Play presentation, Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy VII Revelation will be released physically and digitally for PC and consoles in early April 2027. Final Fantasy VII Revelation is the final game in the series that began with Final Fantasy VII Remake/Intergrade and continued with Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Square Enix also revealed two new videos: a release date trailer and a gameplay deep dive.

In Final Fantasy VII Revelation, Cloud Strife and his loyal companions face a world that teeters on the brink of annihilation. Grieving a beloved ally, and with their nemesis Sephiroth nearing godhood, the party takes to the skies aboard the airship Highwind in a race against time to stop Meteor, the ultimate destructive magic, and the total obliteration of the planet. The final battle has begun. Everything leads here.
The two videos showcase a world without boundaries. You can explore the truly open planet aboard the Highwind airship. Mount a Chocobo, who grows alongside the party. Master the “perfected” version of the series’ hybrid combat system. The new FITS system bestows new abilities and greater power through the specialized roles of Warrior, Knight, Black Mage, and Summoner; you can see Cid and Vincent wearing the Knight FITS and Summoner FITS in the deep dive.
New gameplay footage reveals how you can freely swap your active character at any time while exploring the world. According to Square Enix, “by choosing which party members undertake certain quests, players can customize their narrative experience, impacting how certain events and scenarios unfold.”
Square Enix announced the versions of the game now available for pre-order across platforms, except Switch 2, which will come later.
Physically, here are three options, all for consoles. The Standard Edition also comes in Day 1 editions at several retailers, which include a Magic: The Gathering—Final Fantasy Final Showdown Promo Card; the Amazon Day 1 Edition includes a folded poster. The Deluxe Edition includes a mini-soundtrack, an artbook, and a steelbook case; Day 1 Editions are also available. The Collector’s Edition is limited to the Square Enix Store and includes everything that comes with the Deluxe Edition, plus a premium statue (featuring Cloud, Zack and Sephiroth), a story expansion pass for two story-centred DLC planned for later release, an in-game Reclaimant Choker, a Survival Set of useful in-game items, two pieces of in-game equipment (Nymphwing Bracelet and Risk Taker’s Choker), and two in-game items (Summon Materia: Mecha-Chocobo & Moogle and Polydroid Alexander).
There are three other digital pre-order options, which also include the PC version of the game. The Standard Edition is the base game. The Premium Edition includes a story expansion pass, an in-game Reclaimant Choker, a Survival Set of useful in-game items, and 24 hours of Early Access. The Premium Plus Edition comes with all the Premium Edition contents, plus a digital mini-soundtrack, a digital art book, Summoning Materia: Polydroid Alexander, and two in-game items (Nymphwing Bracelet and Risk Taker’s Choker).
Pre-orders are also open digitally for the Final Fantasy VII Remake Series Trilogy Edition, which gives purchasers immediate access to the first two games in the series.
Developed and published by Square Enix, Final Fantasy VII Revelation will be released digitally and physically for PC via Steam/Epic/Xbox, PlayStation 5, Switch 2, and Xbox Series on April 8.
