Digimon Story: Time Stranger is a great entry point to the series, with multiple settings in both the human and digital worlds. Digimon reside in the intricate Digital World of Illiad, which features new elements of the Digimon world. Players work together with Digimon in battles. Through evolving their abilities and forging bonds, the mystery of the world’s collapse will be unveiled.

Here is a description of the demo’s contents, via Bandai Namco:

First, you’ll be able to try the game’s prologue, where, as an ADAMAS agent, you’ll have to investigate a mysterious disturbance happening around Shinjuku. Any progress made in this section of the game will transfer to the full version of the game when it launches. After completing the first demo section, a new menu option will be available from the start screen to skip ahead in the game and explore Iliad, the Digital World where Digimon reside, with an available mission to explore and complete a quest. Note: only progress in the first demo section will transfer.

All pre-orders include bonuses such as the Uniform of Certain School costumes, Adventure Item set and Agumon (Black) and Gabumon (Black). There are multiple editions of the game available: standard, Digital Deluxe, Digital Ultimate, and Collector’s Edition.

  • The Digital Deluxe Edition includes the standard game plus a season pass and Cyber Sleuth Set Costumes.
  • The Digital Ultimate Edition includes everything from the Deluxe Edition, plus Costume Pack (three costumes per character and three additional side missions), early unlocks of special Agumon and Gabumon (with their Digivolution conditions to specific Digimon already unlocked), Public Safety Suit Costumes and Special Supplies Set, and Cyber Sleuth BGM Pack.
  • The physical collector’s edition includes all of the above, plus a physical artbook, Digimon Card Game set, and an intricate Jupitermon: Wrath Mode statuette.

The season pass includes the Golden Moai farm item (which can be used to decorate the Digifarm) and three DLC packs (to be released later). Each pack includes five additional Digimon and an additional episode.

Developed by Media.Vision and published by Bandai Namco, Digimon Story: Time Stranger will be released for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series on October 3.

Lindsay picked up an NES controller for the first time at the age of 6 and instantly fell in love. She began reviewing GBA games 20 years ago and quickly branched out from her Nintendo comfort zone. She has has developed a great love of life sims and FMV titles. For her, accessibility is one of the most important parts of any game (but she also really appreciates good UI).
