Shueisha Games and Sigono have announced a release window for the photo adventure game OPUS: Prism Peak, stating it will be released for PC “this fall.” It follows an ex-photojournalist who is returning to his hometown when an accident transports him to a liminal realm. In this quiet, surreal world of fading light, fragile beauty, and hidden sorrow, his camera returns to his hands.
When he arrives in the Dusklands, Eugene meets a mysterious girl who remembers only one thing: she must return to a mountain deep within the land. Since Eugene has no path home, he joins her on her path. While capturing fleeting moments and meeting curious spirits, buried truths are uncovered. During the journey, a towering, murky presence, stained in red and black, looms closer and closer to Eugene, stalking the edges of his path.
Eugene is a disillusioned man navigating loss and regret. He is divorced and drifting, with his journey through grief beginning with his camera’s lens. The Mysterious Girl is playful yet empathetic, and she can foil Eugene’s cynicism.
The Dusklands is a realm between reality and reverie. It is ethereal, nostalgic… and slowly unravelling. As Eugene explores forests, towns, and mountain trails, the land crumbles to reveal deeper truths beneath its surface. A cast of enigmatic spirits, each reflecting a different emotion/memory/lesson, helps guide him through this world. As listed in a press release, they include:
- Mystical Deer: A gentle, wise figure who gifts Eugene his camera and says, “Show me whether you truly see this world for what it is.”
- Mystical Dog: Elegant and confident, she commands a train and offers guidance, though her demeanor toward Eugene remains icy.
- Mystical Goat: An elder traveller burdened with gear and nostalgia, recognizing something familiar in Eugene.
- Mystical Boar: Loud and affable, this train conductor lends charm and levity to the journey.
- Mystical Unicorn: A silent, elegant spirit shrouded in loneliness, observing from the edges of the path.
Developed by Sigono and published by Shueisha Games, OPUS: Prism Peak will be released for PC via Steam this (Northern) fall.
