Yuukyuu Gensoukyoku Revival announced for Switch in Japan
A remake of the friendship-cultivating simulation game Yuukyuu Gensoukyoku is on the way — but so far, only in Japan! Yuukyuu Gensoukyoku Revival will be released for Nintendo Switch in Japan “this winter.” The original game launched in 1997 and spawned a series that includes three mainline titles, two fan discs, and one tribute title. Generally, relationship simulation games are themed around romantic love and only feature female characters, but the theme of friendship is open to both genders. (This is still based on a 1997 game, after all. I recognize there are not only two genders.)
The original developers return for Yuukyuu Gensoukyoku Revival, which has completely overhauled the graphics but keeps the game’s heart. Character designer Mr. Moo is also back to revamp all of the characters and add a modern flair without compromising the features and atmosphere of the original version.
Developed by Bridge and published by Taito, Yuukyuu Gensoukyoku Revival will be released in Japan for Nintendo Switch this (Northern) winter.
LEVEL-5 reveals Hinano Iwasaki’s Ending Theme for Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road
Last week, LEVEL-5 released a trailer for hyperdimensional football RPG Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road, showcasing its ending theme. The song, performed by Hinano Iwasaki, has lyrics by Akihiro Hino, composition by Noriyasu Agematsu, and arrangement by Junpei Fujita.
Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road features a new story with a new protagonist. It takes place 25 years after its predecessor, Inazuma Eleven, and follows Destin Bellows. Destin enrolls at South Cirrus Junior High during his search for a world without football. Simultaneously, one student at the prestigious Raimon Junior High is rising as a “football monster” within the school’s national-winning team. The tale begins when their two paths cross.
Developed and published by LEVEL-5, Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road will be released for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series on August 21.
Cladun X3 launches for PC and consoles this year
NIS America has announced that it will publish Cladun X3, the latest game in the pixel action RPG series Cladun, for PC and consoles before the end of 2025. The series trademark is that everything — from characters to weapons to music — is fully customizable. Players have the choice between six different weapon types and ten different jobs. Cladun is also known for its unique Magic Circle System, which uses the power of recruits to enhance a single unit. Each job has unique states, preferred weapons, and Magic Circles.
Cladun X3 is set in Arcanus Cella, where villains have gathered to participate in a cutthroat death game in an attempt to achieve world peace. As one of these villains, players will survive by powering up their strength and heading into the dungeons. Each floor is teeming with monsters and deadly traps, but evil allies can help you along your way.
Developed by Nippon Ichi Software and published in the West by NIS America, Cladun X3 will be released for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch next year.
Gaucho and the Grassland launches next week
Latin cowboy adventure-farming sim Gaucho and the Grassland, influenced by the mysticism and contemplation of The Legend of Zelda games, will fully launch its 1.0 version for PC in mid-July. In the game, players live as a Latin cowboy. Explore the vast grasslands, the cozy highlands, the beach… there’s an entire magical world at your fingertips. Help locals and mystical beings make the world into a more harmonious place.
Gaucho and the Grassland’s key features, from a press release, include:
- Solving quests with farm mechanics: Progress in the game through typical agricultural and rural activities.
- Interacting with animals: lassoing cows, sheep and oxen; leading them around the setting and looking after their needs.
- Farm activities: Fishing, milking, shearing sheep, collecting eggs and much more.
- Building and repairs: Renovate and customize houses – both inside and out.
- Exploring different worlds: Four unique regions to explore – the pampas, the mountains, the beach and the mystical world.
- Magical mate: The traditional gaucho drink takes on a special role, revealing hidden secrets.
- Differentiated narrative: Instead of inheriting a farm, the protagonist is given the title of guardian of the pampas, with the mission of restoring harmony to the region.
- Cultural elements: Playing the harmonica, looking after the animals and experiencing daily life in the countryside.
- Mystical character: An enigmatic cattlewoman who guides the player into the mystical world and reveals new layers of the story.
Developed and published by Epopeia Games, Gaucho and the Grassland will be released for PC via Steam on July 16.
