Today, Square Enix revealed more details and screenshots from Octopath Traveler 0. The game is set on the continent of Orsterra, where the original game in the series is also set. The story is about revenge and restoration surrounding the divine rings. The new details include information on the tyrannical monarch plotting to seize control of Orsterra, your companions who will stand with you, and two of the unique facilities you can construct through Town Building.
Pardis III is Ruler of All and Master of All. The absolute monarch rules the Kingdom of Edoras and has Wealth, Power, and Fame at his command. His greed knows no bounds as in initiates an invasion to seize the continent of Orsterra in its entirety. War spreads across several nations, causing countless tragedies. Can the chosen Ringbearer shatter the monarch’s ambitions?
Your companions on this adventure are Pius, Saoirse, Carinda, and Xerc. Pius is a cleric, a bishop of the Order of the Sacred Flame. He is a distant relative of the protagonist’s mother, who was kind to him as a child. He now wants to return the favour. Saoirse is a travelling dancer with unique artistic tastes. She has an extraordinary vocal talent, and wants a partner who is similar and can join her onstage. Carinda is a merchant who grew up in a small village. She is warm and friendly, with great business sense. Xerc is an eccentric scholar who researches soulstones. His assistant is gathering funds so Xerc can study a gargantuan soulstone.
Two of the Wishvale town buildings have been unveiled: the Monster Arena and the Museum. The Monster Arena is built through story progression. Once you unlock the monster capture list and arena matches, you can face off against your captive monsters. Complete requests and earn matches to earn rewards. The Museum is like a scrapbook of your journey. It is where you can listen to music scores, revisit memories in a journal, and display the treasures of legend rumoured to lie dormant in locations still undiscovered. Wishvale’s background music is also customizable.
Developed by Dokidoki Grooveworks/Square Enix and published by Square Enix, Octopath Traveler 0 will be released for PC via Steam/Microsoft, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Switch 2, Switch, and Xbox Series on December 4.
