There will be 15 playable characters in the throwback arcade-style tag-team beat ‘em game MARVEL Cosmic Invasion. Today’s news about the game reveals numbers 12 and 13 of the roster, Black Panther and Cosmic Ghost Rider. That means that there are two unannounced characters left, and since they have been announced in pairs, that leaves one reveal to go. And that reveal better include Scarlet Witch! (Yes, I’m a stan, sorry not sorry.)
Black Panther and Cosmic Ghost Rider join playable characters Captain America, Wolverine, Spider-Man, Storm, Phyla-Vell, Venom, Nova, She-Hulk, Rocket Raccoon, Beta Ray Bill and Silver Surfer to MARVEL Cosmic Invasion’s lineup.
Brian Bloom voices Cosmic Ghost Rider, and Black Panther is voiced by James Mathis III (reprising his roles from Marvel Rivals and the Avengers Assemble animated series). Here are descriptions of each character, via Dotemu:
- Cosmic Ghost Rider, a deadly incarnation of the Punisher who was transformed after signing a pact to avenge Earth’s devastation at the hands of Thanos. Wielding devastating chains, firearms and his spectacular Hell cycle, Cosmic Ghost Rider pulls out every stop to decimate his enemies while roaring across spaceways.
- Black Panther, the stalwart leader of Wakanda, dashes into battle wearing King T’Challa’s vibranium-enhanced suit and sonic daggers. With peerless martial arts skills and strength, he’ll pounce on any threat or foe foolish enough to challenge him.
In the game, immortal Super Villain Annihilus launches an attack across the galaxy, threatening all life. Super Heroes from Earth and the cosmos must join forces against the deadly Annihilation Wave to brawl through the streets of New York City and all the way to the depths of the Negative Zone with classically inspired side-scrolling combat. Choose two characters and tag between them mid-fight to capitalize on their superpowers and special attacks.
Developed by Tribute Games and published by Dotemu, MARVEL Cosmic Invasion will be released for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series later this year.
