Three of the four heroines in D.C. ~Da Capo~ Re:tune.

I love game remake inception: remakes of remakes of remakes (and so on). That’s what is happening here with D.C. ~Da Capo~ Re:tune. It is a full remake of the 2002 remake of visual novel D.C. ~Da Capo~. Today, a launch date of late October was announced for this newest version. The game centres on a “boring” boy with the power to create sweets out of thin air, and his love story with his adopted sister’s old friend.

Here is the game’s description, from its publisher:

Hatsune Island is a place where the “eternal cherry blossoms” bloom all year round, regardless of the season.

At Hatsune Island’s Kazami Academy, a boy named Junichi Asakura, whose catchphrase is “boring,” possesses both the power to create wagashi (Japanese sweets) from thin air and the slightly fairy-tale-like ability to show others their dreams.

Nemu Asakura is Junichi’s nagging, spoiled adopted sister.

Junichi is about to graduate from school, alongside friends like Kotori Shirakawa, a talented singer and the school idol.

Then one day…

Junichi’s childhood friend Sakura Yoshino returns after going abroad six years earlier—and she looks exactly the same as she did six years ago.

On a spring day with cherry blossoms fluttering in the air, an awkward love story begins.

The first cast reveal trailer (below) features the four heroines: Kaedo Hondo as Nemu Amakura, Chiharu as Sakura Yoshino, Kana Ichinose as Kotori Shirakawa, and Hikaru Tono as Fuuki.

Today’s new second cast reveal trailer (below) adds Takuya Eguchi as Suginami, Yukiyo Fujii as Koyomi Shirakawa, Rio Tsuchiya as Kanako Saeki, Sakura Sakakura as Tomoko Morikawa, and Kotoko Sasaki as Utamaru.

This updated version includes options for English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese languages.

Developed by Circus and published by Bushiroad Games, D.C. ~Da Capo~ Re:tune will be released for PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch on October 30. In Japan, pre-orders begin on May 28.

Lindsay picked up an NES controller for the first time at the age of 6 and instantly fell in love. She began reviewing GBA games 20 years ago and quickly branched out from her Nintendo comfort zone. She has has developed a great love of life sims and FMV titles. For her, accessibility is one of the most important parts of any game (but she also really appreciates good UI).
