Today, indie studio Lunar Games revealed its first-person mystery point-and-click adventure game My Father Lied. In the game, you’ll play as Huda; her father disappeared 20 years earlier and she is desperately seeking answers. The narrative-driven puzzle game is inspired by 7,000 years of Mesopotamian history (the area is now called Iraq.) My Father Lied has been announced for PC and mobile devices, and a crowdfunding campaign is open through Kickstarter.
My Father Lied has gameplay with simple controls. Elements of point-and-click adventure games help you explore, progress through puzzles one at a time, and uncover the truth behind what’s happened. The graphics combine 2D and 360° imagery, catering to various PC setups.
The game is meant to deliver an immersive and unsettling experience. The narrative, about balancing the heartbreak of a missing parent with the revelation of ancient lore, is expressed through slow-burning storytelling and rich world-building.
Here are the key features of My Father Lied, from Lunar Games:
- 360° Immersive Environments: The Game employs both 2D and 360° imagery to create expansive, visually captivating spaces—without overwhelming lower-spec PCs.
- “Mighty Puzzles”: Optional yet challenging riddles that reward persistent problem-solvers with hidden lore and voice recordings. They deepen the mystery for those who choose to dig further—while keeping the main path accessible.
- Emotional, Lore-Heavy Narrative: Discover Huda’s family secrets against a backdrop of mythic Mesopotamian elements. Expect surprising twists, eerie undertones and a story that pulls at the heartstrings.
- Hand-Drawn Cutscenes & Original Soundtrack: Frame-by-frame artistry and a meticulously composed score amplify key story beats, ensuring every moment feels steeped in drama and suspense.
Developed and published by Lunar Games, My Father Lied will be released for PC first sometime this year and iOS/Android afterwards.
