The key art for Forest Grove. It shows the profile of a teenage girl with a long, high ponytail. A Victorian mansion sits in the background.

A teenage tech heiress is missing and it’s up to you to solve the case in Forest Grove. Foul play is suspected in this first-person crime mystery puzzler. Piece together what you learn from characters and physical evidence to solve the mystery. Today, Miga Games and Blowfish Studios announced that the game would be released for PC and (most) consoles in late November.

All appeared normal one day in Forest Grove, Oregon… until a well-known teenage heiress to a billion-dollar tech fortune, Zooey Kunstimatigaard, is reported missing. The case is well above the capabilities of the local police so they call in the Remote Forensic Bureau, an elite investigation unit. Forest Grove features a non-linear story that has you navigating complex familial relationships to find Zooey.

You’ll have to scour the Kunstimatigaard’s grandiose Victorian manor. Search for clues, solve cryptic puzzles, and piece together small details that only the best detectives can find. The developers use cutting-edge technology to obtain realistic visual and audio representations of key events, witnesses, items, and recordings from the scene.

Here’s the last trailer for the game, from February 2022:

My favourite part of the game is what I call a murder board, despite there not necessarily being a murder here. Use it to compile every piece of physical and digital evidence, then cross-reference clues and come to meaningful conclusions. It will take a keen eye to discover secrets by noting any suspicious details and discrepancies. When you’ve either failed or succeeded, receive a grade from your bosses based on the results.

“Forest Grove fuses a twisting mystery and a futuristic world, technology and investigative spirit working together in a setting unlike any other,” said Larry Johnson, Lead Developer of Miga Games, in a press release. “Detectives can try again and again to get to the bottom of this thrilling, complex mystery, until they receive the best grade possible.”

Developed by Miga Games and published by Blowfish Studios, Forest Grove will be released for PC via Steam/Epic, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, and Xbox One. The description on early trailers state it will be released for Mac and Nintendo Switch, so I’m not sure what’s going on there.
