It’s that time of year again! The decorations are out, the house smells of Christmas thanks to the tree in the living room, presents are sitting under the tree and all the good food is on the table. We do love Christmas at DDNet, and as always, we’re doing an advent calendar of our own on the site. Each day we’re going to list one game that’s just perfect to play over the Christmas season, so be sure to check back each day to get all the gaming suggestions you’ll need for the season.

Game #15: Senko no Ronde 2

Christmas is a great time to catch up on those games you forgot even released this year. That also means it’s a good time to taste test a few games outside your comfort zone. Overshadowed by worthy hits like Breath of the Wild and Nier: Automata, Senko no Ronde 2 does a tremendous job of appealing to its niche. It represents one of the more unique approaches to a bullet hell, pitting heavily armed mechs against one another in an arena format yet including all the bullet hell trimmings you’d expect. Most importantly, though, it boasts an uncharacteristically complex story that explores conflict from so much more than a mono-dimensional perspective. It sadly isn’t even in contention for any big awards this year, but I know exactly what game I want to go back to when the holidays hit.
