Sonic 4: Episode 2 release date and details unveiled

Hedgehog fans, rejoice. Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2 will be hitting a multitude of game services over the next few months, starting in May.

Rather than a universal release date, the game will pop up on each console on a different day (at least in the States, that is). The first version out of the gate is on May 15th for PSN, quickly followed by an XBLA release on May 16th, a late May for PC, June for Android, and finally, July for Windows Mobile owners. It’s worth noting again that the second episode will not be available on WiiWare, despite the presence of the first episode.

If you’re an owner of the previous episode and decide to grab episode two, you’ll be getting some benefits. The game sports “lock-on technology” somewhat similar to the Genesis titles, allowing you to run through both episodes with Metal Sonic and access four exclusive levels.

If you can’t wait, check out some screenshots of the game or read our review of episode one.
