The 24 Games of Christmas! Day #16; Freakyforms

Seeing green and red? It must be Christmas!

Every year the world patiently (or not-so-patiently) counts down those 24 days to Christmas; there’s even calendars filled with little treats to help keep the young ones patient.

Then the big day rolls around and it’s filled with great food, great company and, of course, presents.

Christmas is the best time of year, and so to do our bit in celebrating we’re doing our own advent calendar. Each day we’ll unveil another game that has touched us in some way over the year – whether because it’s a work of interactive art, laugh-out-loud funny or just so weird it blew our mind.

So be sure to check back each day for a new game suggestion to fill your Christmas break!

9 Days to Go! Freakyforms: Your Creations, Alive!

You could be forgiven for not picking up Freakyforms on the basis of its weirdness. While it looks like nothing more than a charming character creator at first glance, there’s a bit more to it.

In order to unlock new parts for your creations, you’ll end up questing in open-ended platforming areas. Several mini-games and treasures await here.

With that said, Freakyforms’ forte is indeed character creation. The game encourages you to keep creating more cuddly monstrosities every day by unlocking new content for every few “formees” you make. You can also scan and share QR codes to swap them with friends to your heart’s content.

This will definitely go over well with the young ‘uns, so perhaps you can take turns out-weirding each other as a way of bonding.
