Good news: Backbreaker: Vengeance is coming to PSN too

We already knew that Backbreaker: Vengeance was coming to Xbox Live as a downloadable game, but PSN owners can relax – it’s also getting a PSN release.

For people new to the series, Backbreaker is an Arcade take on the sport of Gridiron (American football). This means? Massive hits, big plays, and plenty of fun. The original Backbreaker was a hit on iOS devices, so we’re just hoping that this game is a bigger success on the big screen than when say Gameloft, pulled a similar stunt.

In the meantime enjoy the teaser trailer – not that is show much of what we can expect from the game:

  • I love football, and while I admit I'm a bit of a Madden fanboy (though I'm willing to admit when they mess up too), I was curious about Backbreaker.

  • @Chalgyr:
I played the demo for the original, can't say how well it would hold up through a full season, but the demo played decent enough.

Glad to see this series continuing though, as I really would like MORE competition, not less…*starts weeping over the loss of the NFL 2K series

Also, if you didn't know, I believe the physics engine in this game was used in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and/or Unleashed II…

  • This is one sport that confuses the heck out of me – I don't think I'll ever understand American football well enough to properly enjoy a game of it (as a point of reference, try playing a Cricket game, and you'll understand where I'm coming from).

So Madden is out for me. But a low priced arcade version of the game for downloaded? Yes please.

  • @coffee – that's my guess too. I don't think this game would hold up on a long-term basis compared to say, Madden, where I have a nice deep franchise mode to delve into, but it might be a fun play in the meantime. Did not know that it uses the same engine as Force Unleashed – kind of funny given then disparate natures of the games. And I hear you on wanting some competition…

@Games – Love my NFL football. I can understand what you mean though – I would be lost on Cricket (how do I hit that guy with his mallet again?), but I am a huge NFL fan and look forward to the Madden series every year

Just don't get me started on the nfl lockout and looming nba one *joins Coffee in weeping now*
