Suda is one of the most creative minds in the game’s industry. His successes, such as Shadows of the Damned, are literally mind blowing, but even is less succesful experiments, such as No More Heroes: Heroes Paradise had its strengths in its storytelling and aesthetics.
Given the obvious comparisons between Suda and, in the film world, Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez, I don’t think I’m the only person that would love to see a Suda-helmed film. The good news? The great man himself is very much for the idea.
At an interview with Digitally Downloaded at a recent preview event, Suda implied that the only thing holding him back from doing a movie is the time commitment. Being the creative force behind a company of 150 people doesn’t leave much free time.
“Mabye not now because I’ve heard if you want to make a film it takes about a few months months, and that’s time I don’t really have,” Suda said.
“But at the same time yes, if I get enough time, I’d like to make one. I’m getting to know a lot of movie directors in Japan. If the opportunity is there and the timing is right then sure.”
Personally, I have my fingers crossed for a Shadows of the Damned film. Grindhouse at its finest.
