Today’s information introduces us to seven characters from the story set on Kameshima: Wakamura, Shotaro, Tsuyu, Chie, Kikuko, Ikoma, and Ide.

  • Shinobu Wakamura (AKA Wakamura) is the single most influential person on Kameshima. He is admired for his many contributions to the region’s development, but his personality leaves much to
be desired. Abundant rumours follow him.
  • Shotaro Wakamura is the only son of Shinobu Wakamura. He is well-regarded by those who know him due to his sincerity. he is often told that he has been blessed with a variety of talents.
  • Tsuyu Minakuchi is Yuza Minakuchi’s grandmother. She was one of the best ama divers on Kameshima — especially in her younger days, during which she had a fierce rivalry with Chie Higashiyama.
  • Chie Toyama is the de facto leader of the ama divers on Kameshima. She is a highly influential figure on the island. Her nickname of Chie the Mermaid comes from her natural diving talents.
  • Kikuko Tsutsui was born and raised on Kameshima. She is known for her
friendly, sociable nature and tendency to look after others.
  • Kippei Ikoma is the director of a venture company primarily focused on planning and producing tourism promotional events in Ise City.
  • Masaru Ide is a detective from the Mie Prefectural Police. He tends to be walking nearby whenever incidents occur — something his colleagues frequently tease him about.

Square Enix also described two game systems, a diving minigame and Mocking Birds.

  • Become a Kameshima ama diver to practice underwater gathering. Raise your Diver Rank by searching for and harvesting sea creatures. A Gathering Log records all sea harvests. And watch out! Your oxygen can fully deplete while you’re underwater.
  • The Mocking Bird stickers from the first game in the series have returned! Scattered throughout the main story, try to find them all!

Developed and published by Square Enix, Paranormasight: The Mermaid’s Curse will be released for iOS/Android, PC via Steam, and Nintendo Switch on February 19. (If you missed the first title, it’s on sale for now! I grabbed it for about $5.)

Lindsay picked up an NES controller for the first time at the age of 6 and instantly fell in love. She began reviewing GBA games 20 years ago and quickly branched out from her Nintendo comfort zone. She has has developed a great love of life sims and FMV titles. For her, accessibility is one of the most important parts of any game (but she also really appreciates good UI).
