My first glimpse at Woodo was during the Women-Led Games 2024 Summer Showcase. In my recap of the event, I waxed nostalgic about how it instantly transported me back to my childhood, my grandfather’s woodworking shop, and the amazing puzzles he would make us. The cozy 3D puzzle adventure features a matching mechanic based on a simple diorama style, and its graphics are absolutely stunning. But enough about why I like Woodo. The new gameplay trailer shown off during ID@Xbox is way more exciting!
Woodo follows Foxy, a young girl spending her summer in a remote village with a distant relative named Ben (the Frog). Foxy is used to the digital world, and at first, she struggles with her new surroundings. Ben encourages Foxy to get out, sharing an adventure place close to his heart. Foxy realizes how creativity makes her happy and builds up her special memories. Intricate dioramas represent each cherished moment from that summer.
The new trailer (below) is a first look at Woodo’s charming narrative. It features snippets of the protagonist’s arrival in the village, comedic encounters with geese (and a very naughty goat!), and the first steps of new bonds. The handcrafted world is built around the protagonist’s memories of a summer in the countryside. You piece together objects and moments that breathe life into the coming-of-age tale.
