If only Humphrey Bogart were still around to perform in it...

Critical Hit Games, in partnership with PLAION, has formally announced Nobody Wants to Die, a futuristic noir mystery game coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC via Steam this year.

To put it bluntly: Hell yes. If there’s one thing that I will always be down for, it’s the combination of neon and noir.

In Nobody Wants to Die, you play as Detective James Karra in the year 2329 (ambitious to think humanity will survive that long), set on the path of a killer, while also “uncovering the dark secrets of the city’s elite.”

Sounds like Karra’s a comrade too, even if he is a cop. Excellent.

It’s quite obvious that this game is taking inspiration from sources like Blade Runner, and through the developers aren’t claiming anything particularly cyberpunk about it (at least, not in the material so far), neon noir and cyberpunk are pretty adjacent genres.

This is Critical Hit’s first game, and as the company’s website states: “Our goal is to provide players with an unforgettable experience with the highest quality visuals set in a unique setting in an alternative vision of the future.” While we don’t have a firm release date yet, we do have a trailer to whet your appetite. This really does look very good.
