It’s that time of year again! We’re counting down the days to Christmas with our own little “advent calendar” – one new game to play over the holiday season each and every day.

As the year winds down, things get really busy. We’ve got Christmas parties to attend, the end of year rush on work, and all the rest of it. But it’s also a time where we take holidays, find a moment to relax, and enjoy the company of others. This is the best chance to catch up on some key games that you might have missed from the year… or just play that multiplayer game that you’ve been waiting to get a crew together for.

Day 24: Nintendo Switch Online

Christmas is an opportunity to indulge nostalgia, and what better way to do that than enjoy a genuinely massive library of NES, SNES, Game Boy, GBA, N64 and Mega Drive games? Yes, we can quibble that one favourite game or the next is missing, but there are now hundreds of games across those platforms, both big hits and cult favourites, and you will always find something to play that will bring you right back to your youth.

Me? I’ll play breaking out Ocarina of Time, and remembering the sheer excitement I had plugging the golden cartridge into my N64 back in the day. Then I’ll give Tetris on the Game Boy a go, remembering that that was the first game I played on the first console I owned of my own – that was one incredibly exciting Christmas I tell you what. And then I might connect up with one of my brothers for a bout of Goldeneye, Winback or even some SNES Donkey Kong – all very fond memories that I have of my childhood. Nintendo Online is well worth it for reliving those moments.
