Square Enix has announced a reimagining of a phenomenal tactics RPG, Tactics Ogre. (DDNet did report on a leak regarding this game a couple of weeks ago.) Titled Tactics Ogre: Reborn promises beautifully converted HD graphics, fully-voiced cutscenes in English and Japanese, recreated sound effects and re-recorded background music. There are also some quality of life updates, like a redesigned battle systems, adjusted level management system, reworked AI, and improved UI.

Tactics Ogre: Reborn takes place in the Valerian Isles, considered the jewels of the Obero Sea. There has been many. Years of conflict, but finally Dorgalua Oberyth rose to put an end to the fighting. He is called the Dynast-King, and the peace and prosperity he brought to Valeria lasted for fifty years. We all have to die sometime, though, and after he perishes a civil war erupts and the Valerian Isles. The war is a bloody power struggle between three factions.

The game follows Denam Pavel, who has been caught in the centre of everything. He wants freedom and justice, but soon learns that even noble goals may require impossibly difficult decisions to be made. Players will control a team of units on the battlefield, using a turn-based strategy combat system to gain the upper hand over the enemy. As the game goes on, players can recruit new party members; experiment with various classes, weapons, magic, and abilities; and make key decisions at multiple points.

There are two digital editions available, Standard and Digital. Both includes the game. The Standard Edition also includes a digital mini soundtrack download code for three songs. The Digital Premium Edition includes an original soundtrack, as well as a digital mini soundtrack that includes ten chiptune songs from the original Tactics Ogre.

Developed and published by Square Enix, Tactics Ogre: Reborn will be released for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch on November 11. It is currently available for pre-order on all systems. It will be available both physically and digitally.

Lindsay picked up an NES controller for the first time at the age of 6 and instantly fell in love. She began reviewing GBA games 20 years ago and quickly branched out from her Nintendo comfort zone. She has has developed a great love of life sims and FMV titles. For her, accessibility is one of the most important parts of any game (but she also really appreciates good UI).
