One of the most promising Chinese games is just days away...

News by Matt S.

Xuan-Yuan Sword VII releases on PlayStation 4 and PC on October 29 - just 16 days away - and we can't wait to get our hands on it. Rooted in Chinese history and mythology, the game looks like the real deal - an action RPG that has something genuine to share about the culture and storytelling traditions of its country.

Take, for example, this listed feature within the game: Mohism, an ancient Chinese philosophy of logic, rational thought, and science, was once as popular as Confucianism in China 2200 years ago. In this game, the Mohists are known for their high level "Mechanic" technology far beyond the times. However, civil disagreements are challenging their faith, making them fall apart in decades. Can the Mohists revive to their former glory or fade in the pages of history? In Xuan-Yuan Sword VII, you will witness the final destiny of the Mohists.

It's not the kind of topic or theme that you would expect to see a non-Chinese developer address with a game made about the country's history. As most people know, we're all about "world games" and developers bringing stories of their cultures and histories to a global audience, and I very much see Xuan-Yuan Sword VII doing that.

It also helps that it looks like the game will be a hoot to play, of course, with big action and plenty of challenge. This new trailer gives you a good look at all that.

We'll look to have coverage up on this game the moment we can get our hands on it!
