Darksiders: Warmastered Edition Switch

News by Matt C.

2019 continues the trend of seemingly every game ever made getting a Switch port. That’s great news for Switch owners, bad news for our wallets, and awful news for DDNet’s News Editor.

All things considered, this weeks a quiet one. Still, here are all the Switch port and release date announcements (that we know of) from this week:

  • Agartha-S (available now)
  • Arcade Archives Moon Cresta (available now)
  • Downwell (available now) (Switch review)
  • Drowning (available now)
  • Eggggg – The Platform Puker (available now)
  • Farm Together (available now)
  • Halcyon 6: Starbase Commander (available now)
  • Johnny Turbo’s Arcade: Two Crude Dudes (available now)
  • Merchants of Kaidan (available now)
  • Spoiler Alert (available now)
  • Stray Cat Doors (available now)
  • Zombie Night Terror (available now)
  • The King’s Bird (February 12)
  • Darksiders: Warmastered Edition (April 2)
Nintendo Switch Downwell

The big one this week is Darksiders: Warmastered Edition, a remastered version of Vigil Games’ acclaimed action adventure game that first came out in 2010. Darksiders often gets compared to The Legend of Zelda (though that’s a comparison that DDNet’s editor doesn’t much care for). “Zelda clone” or not, Darksiders deserves more recognition than it gets, and the Switch release is sure to introduce it to plenty more people.

This week also sees the Switch release of Downwell from Japanese indie dev Ojiro “Moppen” Fumoto. As Harvard said in his review, “This game is a testament to the lasting resonance of a good idea – beneath its simple looking exterior lies an intricately deep game filled with true challenge.”

What are you most looking forward to?

(Important note: we’re not including announcements of Switch as a platform for upcoming games, which would usually get their own news coverage anyway. This is list is purely for announcements of Switch ports / re-releases and the like.)
