Introducing the Dee Dee Zine - a digital magazine for Patreon backers!

News by Matt S.

Hello everyone! I've got some exciting news to share this week that represents a major new investment by us, in the ongoing quest to find interesting ways to cover video games for our readers. We're launching a digital magazine for Patreon backers, the Dee Dee Zine!

This magazine will be a monthly publication, available to everyone that supports us on Patreon for $1/month or more. The first issue, as an experiment, is 10-pages long, but this will increase to 20 pages from next month, and we'll continue to re-assess just how much content works for people from there. Basically, what we're going to do with the magazine is use it to cover the kinds of things that are beyond the scope of what we do on the Website and YouTube channel, or things just don't fit in there.

The magazine is presented as a high-quality, fully-printable pdf that people can print out, stick on their tablets, or read off their computers - basically, it'll work however they prefer to read magazines! Here's a sample from the first issue of the magazine:

The first issue already has some great stuff to read through, including:

- The five best Apple Arcade games (to date)
- A "hidden gems" feature, looking at the sadly-overlooked and almost-forgotten Tokyo Dark
- A film review (Wet Woman in the Wind) and an anime review (Blue Reflection Ray)
- An interview with one of the artists working on the next Dee Dee visual novel, A Week on the Water
- A retrospective look back at Snow Bros, the best of the Bubble Bobble-likes

As you can see, it's jam-packed, and this is just the first "test" magazine! Each magazine will be released in the middle of the month, and I look forward to hearing what people think of it.

Producing this magazine involves a lot of work (and a fair cost on my part), which is why it's being offered as something to Patreon backers, but as I mentioned, just $1/month in support will unlock all Dee Dee Zines for you. That's pretty good value for a monthly magazine!

Thank you as always for your support. Being an independent games publisher is always a challenge, but as I think you all know, my passion for video games as an art form is real and genuine. Your support for true independent games coverage is deeply appreciated.
