Operencia: Almost the perfect retro-themed dungeon crawl

Operencia is Zen Studios’ latest work, and it’s very different from the pinball action that everyone knows them best for. This is a turn-based, traditionally-themed, dungeon crawler.

If you grew up with the likes of Wizardry and Might & Magic, you’re going to love the aesthetics, level design, narrative, music, and overall presentation of the game. However, there is one small issue with the game – that combat system.

In this video I take a look at a couple of the reasons why the combat system holds this ‘crawler back a little. Don’t let it put you off playing it – on balance this is a delightful little experience. There’s all the potential in the world for a sequel to absolutely nail it.
