Experience Inc, the Japanese specialist in Wizardry-style dungeon crawlers, has one final PlayStation Vita game in production, and it looks gorgeous. What’s more, it’s exclusive to that platform for some unfathomable reason. Blue-Winged Chevalier is a remake of Students of the Round, and is a classically beautiful Experience Inc… experience.

To the best of my knowledge Students of the Round has not been localised into English in the past, and Blue-Winged Chevalier hasn’t had a localisation announced either. Given the state of the Vita market out here, I wouldn’t expect a publisher to pick it up. As an interesting bit of trivia for crawler fans, though, these games share a setting with both Demon Gaze and Stranger of Sword City, although those titles takes place in a vastly different time zone.

Anyhow, never give up hope of getting a chance to play this. It really does sound like it’ll be a great little title. From the description: “Soar again, 10 years later. Rise again as a knight of light, deepen your bonds with your “student” comrades, and challenge the power of darkness. By adding simulation elements like eating and dialogue to the traditional elements of dungeon RPGs like character creation, dungeon exploration, and item collection, players will experience a dramatic and personal story.”

Blue-Winged Chavalier releases in July in Japan.
